Fly Casting and Fly Fishing Tuition
Salmon and Trout
"By getting a good foundation and understanding at the beginning, not only saved me time and money, but enabled me to enjoy my fishing a lot more"
This is a typical quote from one of the many beginners that I have had the pleasure to meet and set on the right road to becoming a better fly fisher. I have been teaching now for many years and have met people from all walks of life, some of whom have fished for years without proper tuition.
The one thing that I have found during this time is that without the proper understanding of the basics, bad habits develop very quickly. They then become harder to rectify as time goes by. Imagine building a house without the proper foundation, sometime or other, you would have to go back and sort it out before the house fell down.
Many people have wanted to learn the Double Haul Cast without understanding how to do the Basic Overhead Cast. Salmon anglers are eager to learn to Spey Cast without an understanding of the Roll Cast. Life is so much easier if the basics are mastered and the correct technique is used before bad habits are formed. Once a basic technique is mastered, the angler can then progress to whatever level they require to get the most out of their fishing.
I am fortunate to belong to the
Association of Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors (A.A.P.G.A.I.) A qualification regarded as the highest available.
I am still happy to spend time with my fellow instructors ironing out any little faults that creep into my casting technique. I look forward to the many weekends that the Association organises to refine casting techniques and improve teaching methods.
Beginners or experienced anglers of all ages are catered for on a one to one basis or group tuition. Casting courses are run throughout the year at
Salmon Fishing is catered for with tuition on local rivers.
Pupils learn everything from Overhead Casts to Spey Casting and Snake Rolls. Fault finding and correcting problems for the experienced anglers who have let a few bad elements creep into their casting. Some people who have never fished a particular stretch of water before they learnt how to Spey Cast are now getting more out of their fishing and also better value for money by fishing more of the available water.
